By Adem Selita

Phantom Plugs

Investigate phantom plugs consuming energy around your home. If you have electronics plugged in around your home that simply go unused, you can go searching throughout the house and unplug all are unused. This might seem like a silly thing but unused appliances will save you quite a lot off your electric bill if you have multiple phantom culprits. There are some that are a heavy strain on your power bill (TVs, PCs, etc.) and that you never use. Easy way to save money off your electricity bill every month.

Experiences Over Products

Consumers that spend more on experiences and shift their spending away from products can sometimes live a greener lifestyle! Products can tend to be a bigger strain on the environment. Although this doesn’t always hold true since there are services that are tremendous strains on the environment. If you are going skydiving multiple times a year, that is going to be a tremendous strain on the environment, much more than buying a few t-shirts.

Check for Air Leaks

A good way to lower your energy bill is by looking for air drafts and leaks within your home. Make sure to fill them once you find them! This will do a great deal to help you save costs from AC use during the summer and heating costs during the winter.

Green Products

Always try to be mindful of green products! If you want to be more environmentally conscious always check recyclability on the back of the product and goods you purchase. If you happen to come across similar products that are recyclable and non-recyclable (based on packaging) go for the ones that are more environmentally friendly. Going with a greener product is also a great way to differentiate between products that are extremely close in utility and price.

Consider Walking or Biking

You can consider walking or biking instead of your car as a default mode of transportation. If you are traveling a short distance, try and consider a greener mode of transportation, especially if it’s not a long distance away! If you have free time this is a great way to stay healthy and help the environment.
